Avenir: Toward A Sensible Future explores the history, uses, and complexities of the popular Avenir typeface. Inspired the the French meaning of the word avenir or future, the book looks at geometric shapes as the basis of the typeface. However, the change in tones adds to the humanistic sensibility that Frutiger intended.
